Student Virtual Parking Permits

SF State provides parking for students, faculty and staff, and visitors.  A valid daily or semester permit is required at ALL times in every lot.  After 5:00 p.m. and on weekends, all lots are open to the public.  See the parking map for the locations of each of these lots.

Effective, June 1, 2020, the city and county of San Francisco has begun collecting the mandated 25% parking tax from all drivers who park on campus, as ordered by the California Supreme Court.  The following daily rates reflect the city and county parking tax:

New Daily Parking Permit App available. 

SFSU parking permits are now available to be purchased on the Flowbird Parking App.  Available to download on Apple App Store or Android Apps Goggle Play.  For more information go to https://flowbirdapp.com/

 

Virtual permit is non-transferable. Vehicle must be registered to the student or from the same household.

Parking privileges will be revoked for any individuals found in violation of SFSU's Parking regulations.

Daily virtual permits can be purchased at the pay stations in the garage or with the Flowbird App. They require a license plate to purchase a permit. If you do not have a license plate, you must enter the complete VIN.  You will no longer be required to display a permit since the machines will no longer print out permits. 

Please follow the following steps below to purchase a daily permit:

  • Enter license plate 
  • Select duration of permit
  • Enter payment 
  • Complete transaction

Please note that exact change is required for cash transactions; machines do not give out change

Pay stations accept:

  • $1, $5 and $10 bills 
  • Credit/Debit Cards 
    • There is a 2.75% credit/debit card fee. 
  • SF State OneCard

 

COMMUTER STUDENTS 

LOT 20 Semester Permits 

A limited quantity of Lot 20 Semester Permits are available on a first come first served basis. Once permits are sold out, permits will not be available for purchase until the following semester. Virtual semester permits are not for overnight parking. 

Semester Permit Costs:  (Includes the 25% City and County of San Francisco Parking Tax)

  • $500 for Monday - Friday

ON-CAMPUS RESIDENT STUDENTS - LOT 20R and 25 

  • Lot 20R semester permits ($400) are available only to students who are on-campus residents. Parking garage is located on campus and permits are valid weekdays, overnight and weekends. There is a limited quantity available on a first come first served basis. Once permits are sold out, permits will not be available for purchase until the following semester. (On Campus Residents are exempt from the City and County Parking Tax)
  • Lot 25 semester permits ($245) are available only to students who are on-campus residents. Parking lot is located off campus and permits are valid weekdays, overnight and weekends. There is a limited quantity available on a first come first served basis. Once permits are sold out, permits will not be available for purchase until the following semester. (On Campus Residents are exempt from the City and County Parking Tax)

Summer On Campus Resident - Lot 20R and Lot 25

  • Lot 20R semester permits ($267)
  • Lot 25 semester permits ($164)
  1. Visit https://sfsu.permitinfo.net/
  2. Click on NEW USER and follow the directions.  (Do not use ACCOUNT LOG IN, this is not the SF State account)
  3. At the end of your purchase please create a parking permit account login.  This is the only way to update vehicle information at any time.
  4. Once purchased, you can visit the website at any time to update your vehicle information.

Lot 20 Permits:

  • Lot 20 virtual permit is valid in Lots 20 and 25.
  • Lot 20 is a search lot and this virtual permit does not guarantee parking.
  • Virtual permits do not allow for overnight parking.
  • This virtual permit is only valid on ONE registered vehicle parked on campus at any time.
  • Virtual permit is non-transferable. Vehicle must be registered to the student or from the same household.
  • Parking privileges will be revoked for any individuals found in violation of SFSU's Parking regulations.
  • Refunds are issued per ABS 87-36.  Refunds are based on the date of purchase.  Returns within the first week of purchase is a 100% refund.  

Spring Semesters:  January through February is a 75% refund, March through April 20 is a 50% refund.  After April 20th, no refunds will be issued.  

Fall Semesters:  August through September is a 75% refund, October through November 20 is a 50% refund.  After November, no refunds will be issued.  Please email parking@sfsu.edu to request a refund.

  • San Francisco State University does NOT assume liability for theft, fire or damage to any vehicle or any articles left therein.  No bailment for the University is created with this virtual permit to park.

Lot 25 Permits:

  • Lot 25 virtual permit is valid in Lot 25.
  • Virtual permits allow for overnight parking.
  • This virtual permit is only valid on ONE registered vehicle parked on campus at any time.
  • Virtual permit is non-transferable.  Vehicle must be registered to the student or from the same household.

If you have a rental, loaner, or new vehicle visit https://sfsu.permitinfo.net/

  • Log in to your account

    • If you do not remember your password, select "Forgot Password?" and enter your SFSU email address
  • Once in your account, select the active permit
  • Select "Click Here to Add a Vehicle" or select the license plate you would like to update
    • Be sure to click "Update Permit"
  • You can select the active permit to double-check check the vehicles are updated in your account.
